Entry Thirty-Eight: On returning

I woke up in my bed. I thought for a minute I was back where I was before, but then I saw someone who definitely wasn't Isabelle head downstairs. Because she had dark hair.

How is everyone?

    Private:

I'm scared. And confused. I just feel so tired.

    I want to go home.

Just to clarify the groups - since the second day they're really just there as a check-in system. So you can go around and do what you please so long as you don't go into any usual off-limit areas (the Forbidden Forest, etc). I'd just recommend making sure someone else knows where you are, and of course that you don't do anything dangerous.

And I will be judging the scream competition. I'd like to say in advance that I am not open to bribes. So there.

    Private to Annie and Mac:

I've seen the prefects' bathroom mentioned a few times. Since it doesn't have a door, it doesn't have a password, and therefore you could argue that since you didn't encounter any barriers getting into it, you hadn't really gone out of bounds? I don't know why you would possibly be interested in this information though. Ho-hum.

This is in progress. I'm trying to keep family members together and put one MLP participant in with each group. I'm also trying to spread out the prefects and the older students, and at least two boys and two girls in each. For obvious reasons. So four or five works better than my initial idea of three.

List )

Private to Prefects and seventh years:

    Issues (if this continues):

  • Safety. No one should be wandering around alone, and younger students should be accompanied by an older one at all times. Perhaps we should all sleep in the Great Hall for tonight? I don't think this will be a popular suggestion, but it has been used before like that in emergencies. And everyone should keep their wands and journals handy.

Alternatively we could sleep in Hufflepuff. Isn't that meant to be close to the Great Hall? Annie and Luke and Josh, would you mind?

Also, what will happen if someone gets hurt? Who is good at basic Healing charms? There was also supposed to be Counsellor Stoddard at breakfast. Has anyone seen her?

  • Food. Luke suggested pooling it all and trying some replication charms. Who's good at those? Water at least shouldn't be a problem. We can Transfigure containers and use Aquamenti charms.

If the food situation continues into tomorrow, perhaps some people can be sent outdoors to investigate. Preferably people strong in Herbology so they can tell what to eat and what not to. We can also use the water to stretch what we have and perhaps make broth and soups.

  • Further step to take. I think it's natural to want to explore and try and find out what's going on. But for now I think it's best to sit tight and wait for help to come to us? Although the situation is scary alarming, no one has been hurt yet. If we're left alone for some time, then we could perhaps discuss what to do.

Any other ideas? I'm just bouncing things around. But I think the main priorities are to try and keep the younger years calm, to try and stay calm in front of them, and to stop people from doing anything stupid.

    end private

[empty world]

Everyone who is able to, please meet outside the entrance of the Great Hall. If there is someone with you who does not have a journal, please bring them with you as well. If you do have a journal, please keep it with you as a means of communication.

    Private to Prefects:

There is obviously something very strange going on here. I suggest making a list and assigning people to groups of three and recommending that they stay in those groups when possible. If there are any younger years present, then some older students should be assigned them to look after.

I think for now it would be best if we were aware of everyone's whereabouts. If things do not go back to normal soon, we can discuss what to do from there.

    Has anyone seen Rhys?

Entry Thirty-Seven: On the Headaches of Dress Shopping

    Private:

I just got that owl order catalogue from Mum this morning and wow - there's so much to choose from. I can understand why people complain of sensory overload when they go shopping now. As soon as I've decided on a shade, then I find a dress in a different colour that I like better, only it's not listed in my size, and they're all rather short but the ones that aren't short tend to be strapless, and I don't want to be worrying about that all evening. Do I even have enough to hold it up How can we be expected to have a good time if we're given such impossible clothing?

    Speaking of, where it is?

    end private

Did anyone happen to borrow my owl order catalogue from me earlier? It will have "Lindsay Sloper" written on it somewhere as it's my mum's. Will she be going back to

Entry Thirty-Six

Private to Aaron, Asha and Paul:

Sorry if I made things worse. I'm just frustrated with the lack of responsibility some people have over their actions.

Private to Paul, Sylvia, Louis and Josiah:

I'm sick of being a prefect for the moment. I doubt they'll offer me the head girl's badge anymore, but remind me to say no.

Who wants to do something fun? Which will probably be Uno, knowing me.

Entry Thirty-Four: On Slambooks

Private to Rhys, Sylvia, Paul, Josiah, Louis, Luke, Zara, Hollyoaks, Isabelle, Mac, Iona, Aaron and Asha:

It says something of what I currently think of things here is that I'm almost ready to go home again. I'm so tired of things like this stirring up trouble. I'd complain about it more publicly but that would just make things worse.

If you must use the slambook, please don't let it be anything negative. Though honestly I'd prefer it if you torched it.

Great. Now whenever I get a second helping of dessert, people will look at me funny.

    end private

    Private to Juliana Harkiss:

Don't worry about any slambook comments. If anything you've done as a prefect was that serious, then the person would have taken it up with your house head, and if Warrington thought you were doing a bad job, he'd have got back to you. So obviously you're doing fine.

Entry Thirty-Three: On Holidays

    Private:

Bah humbug. I am only expected to stay a week at most. I can do it.

    end private:

Private to Gryffindor sixth and seventh years:

I have been so concerned about my own Christmas that
It appears I am not the only one who may not

Pyrrhus. Has he expressed concerns to any of you about how he feels about returning home for Christmas?

    end private

I may arrive back at school early to get a head start on coursework. Is there anyone else with similar plans?

Entry Thirty-Two: On Sneezing Sickness

Private to head students and prefects

We all seem rather busy at the moment, so if someone wants me to draw up a list of alternates for people who are sick, I can do that. I can also afford a couple of extra rounds during the week.

Juliana Harkiss and Naoko Cornfoot are two. Is there anyone else? Paul and I are still alright.

    private

I woke up feeling tired this morning. I went to Pomfrey and she said it wasn't a virus and I was just feeling run down.
I-

Sorry about that. Inkspill.

Entry Thirty-One: On Fireworks

I do enjoy Guy Fawkes. Just not to the point that I want it to carry over the Great Hall and startle me while I'm eating breakfast? One of the first years knocked over a pitcher of pumpkin juice when it happened. It was a full pitcher, so it flooded his end of the table and spilled into the laps of the girls sitting close by. Nothing some cleaning charms can't take care of, but the girls were annoyed about him "ruining their outfits."

And I didn't dress as a zombie, but I did let someone charm my nails black for the evening. They made my skin look very, very pale.

This week has been very quiet? History tells me this will not last long.

Entry Thirty: On Bad Victory Parties

    Private to Lindsay:

You seem to have disappeared. May I join you?

    end private

    Private to Gen and Aaron

What do you want us to do from here?

I'll be outside if you need anything.

    end private

Quietness is overrated. Good game, Slytherin.

Entry Twenty-Nine: On...why do these things happen to me?

Private )

Private to Genevieve and Aaron:

Sorry to bother you, but next time one of you talks to anyone who has access to the prefects' bathroom, could there be a reminder that we shouldn't forget to lock share the password around?

The password might also need to be changed again.

end private

Private to Rhys:

Are you feeling any better?

Oct. 17th, 2009

Entry Twenty-Eight: On Rachel's developing headache

    Private to Genevieve Boot:

Just so you're aware, there's a slight situation on Eoghan McLaggen's journal that I'm trying to nip in the bud. And for once he wasn't the catalyst. Emily Longbottom is unhappy about him taking one of her friends to the dance and is speaking to him rather aggressively about it. And Eoghan says that she and Seamus Thomas have been threatening him in private about it. Which I only have his word to take for, but from what I saw Emily is definitely acting that way.

I said that I would check in with Mia and speak to Emily and Seamus about it. I've already given Emily a warning. Is there anything else I should do? It seems like a big fuss over next to nothing and I don't want it to snowball any further, but I think it already has? Eoghan told me in private that he's reconsidering taking Mia to the dance.

    end private

Private to Emily Longbottom and Seamus Thomas:

I will check in with Mia about Eoghan, as he actually suggested. In the meantime I would like both of you to refrain from attacking him about his choice of a date. Seamus, consider this a warning, and Emily, this is a repetition of yours.

    end private

    Private to Mia:

    How are things?

    end private

Most days I like my badge. This is not one of them.

Does anyone feel like a game of Uno?

Oct. 15th, 2009

Entry Twenty-Seven: On NEWTs and Shakespeare

Private to Patrick Wood, Hollyoaks Pye, Wolfgang Bagman and Nathan King:

Apologies for writing to you two, Wolfgang and Nathan, out of the blue. It's my friend Rhys Branson's birthday soon and I'd really like to organize a former Gryffindor pen pal for him (one who plays/used to play Pro Quidditch) or drop him a line or something? Do you know of anyone who might be willing to humour him me?

I don't really know what's in it for you, but I can ask one of the professors for permission to go down to the kitchens and bake a confectionery of your choice.

    end private

I can see why they call them Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests now. And I'm still only a sixth year!

Also I received this owl from my secret santa. I can place some of the quotes, but not all of them.

Owl - cut for length, not content )

He or she took the original words out and inserted my name. #3 is MacBeth, #4 is Julius Caesar, and #8 is Romeo & Juliet, I think? #7 sounds a bit like The Taming of the Shrew, but I'm not sure. I also need to track down the complete quotes.

Oct. 4th, 2009

Entry Twenty-Six: On Dancing

I quite like Maeve Cadwallader's idea of dance cards. So while I don't know that I'll have one as such, anyone who wants to dance with me can say so, and I'll set aside some time for you? Rhys?

Still haven't decided on a costume yet. I know it's a while away, but it seems like most other people have decided and I should really make a decision before the next Hogsmeade weekend? In case I need to get anything there? I was thinking something Muggle related, like Lois Lane. Or Mary Jane Watson.

    Private to Hugo:

I'm sorry Did you get dinner?

    end private

Entry Twenty-Five: On Quidditch and Positivity

    Private:

Flirting is just Rhys's natural conversational style. I wouldn't have minded if it was anyone but Annie. I trust him to behave appropriately, so I'm going to try not to get upset about it again. And do what Brooke suggested and just try and spend time with Rhys.

    end private

Private to Patrick Wood and Lily Potter:

Yes, I know he's being a big baby. But is there any chance you could get either your dad (Patrick) or your mum (Lily) to drop in on the Gryffindor practices at some point? He sort of keeps the rest of us sane when he's not flirting with in a good mood. And when he's sulking about something Quidditch related, we all know that the rest of us suffer.

I don't know what's in it for you other than my gratitude.

    end private

    Private to Rhys:

Think I might be able to beat you with a slight handicap?

    end private

Mondays are always a hurdle I like to get over with. There's a saying bad things happen in threes. With me, bad things seem to happen on Mondays.

Now that Monday's over, I'm just trying to follow what some smart people have said to me and focus on the positive. I brought Uno cards with me to school this year if anyone wants a game.

Sep. 26th, 2009

Entry Twenty-Four: On Rachel being Gryffindor Aunt to Sylvia's Mum

    Private to Rhys:

I had fun the other day, but you've seemed kind of worried about something? And I'm your friend so you can still tell me things if you need to. Just in case you wanted to talk.

    end private

    Private to Luke:

Luke, there seems to be a lot of people angry at you in the latest slambook for some reason. I never know how seriously to take it, so I sort of glazed over it. Is everything alright?

    end private
I think anyone who hasn't already might want to consider on Gen's journal entry. If you feel like dispensing a bit of positivity, that is.

Sep. 22nd, 2009

Entry Twenty-Three: On luck finally coming through

    Private:

Nothing coherent to go here. Nothing.

HE ASKED ME TO HOGSMEADE HE ASKED ME TO HOGSMEADE WHOOHOO

    end private

Private to Sylvia, Paul, Louis, Josiah, Luke and Zara:

So after our flight I told Rhys that I liked him and he asked me to go to Hogsmeade with him the next time it happens. Zara and Luke, just to recap I accidentally warded an entry to all of Gryffindor saying that I liked someone and later told the other four who it was when I realised the entire house could read it.

I sound very calm, but I am smiling so hard right now.

Oh, and needless to say this doesn't get repeated elsewhere. Especially to Isabelle or Hollyoaks. Because I don't know if anything will come of it so I'd rather not have too many people know.

    end private

    Private to Patrick:

Patrick Wood, thanks for your advice. It's much better than your luck. So watch who you bet on, alright?

    end private

    Private to Rhys:

I have chocolate. Catch is, you have to eat it with me.

    end private
